What I read....and what I'm about to read

During the summer I tend to (like a lot of people) read more light romantic/sci fi books etc and this summer was no different, although there were a few more serious tomes to ground me :) This isn't a complete list either as I read some from the library as well, but had to return them before this picture was taken.

I finally started the all popular George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones   series and enjoyed it, although I did find it a bit challenging to get through (not sure why though). I also started the ever popular Diana Gabaldon Outlander series again partly just cause I love these books and also partly because I hear she has a new one coming out this fall (the first book Outlander isn't in the picture above, I couldn't find it! But rest assured I did read it :)

I'd been wanting to read The Good Life by Helen and Scott Nearing for a long time and finally got a chance to. It was interesting, inspiring and very informative.

I've attempted to read some classics over the last couple years, but I always get overwhelmed or bored, so when I saw The Well-Educated Mind: A Guide to the Classical Education You Never Had, which is basically a guide to reading the classics I had to check it out. I am so inspired now that I've read this guide and am determined to start on my first real "classic" in the fall (after the first rush of back to school chaos subsides and another big life change happens (more on that soon!)

I am a pretty disorganized person on the outside, but deep down I love feeling organized, and reading Sink Reflections by Marla Cilley has really helped me to see myself in a different light. It has also to help me get (and hopefully stay!) organized in a lot of ways. If you are like me, check out her website HERE and my other favorite organizing inspiration is the I heart Organizing blog, which you can see in my blogroll.

So, what have I got lined up to read this fall and winter? Check it out...

A big mess lol. All the magazines you see are a couple years worth and I'm determined to just skim most of them and pull out pages of my favorites to keep and then get rid of the magazines. The blue composition book in the middle is my notebook for taking notes on the classics I intend to read.

So, there you go, I've shared mine, now you share yours! I love getting book recommendations from friends, so please feel free to tell me some of your favorites either in the comments below or on the Kozy Kabin facebook page HERE

Just a couple pictures I wanted to share with you all, the girls have been having a blast exploring the great outdoors this summer. Earlier this week, they found a bunch of tiny baby frogs,

Beautiful beets and crunchy carrots!

Look at this beautiful haul we picked from mom's garden! I love having fresh, beautiful, (very) local produce available. So yummy!

Happy Friday and have a good (long) weekend!

Guess who's back, back again....

Sam is back, tell your friends....

Yes, I'm a dork, what can I say?
Just dropping in today to share some more summer fun pics. We were away last week on holidays so I took a blogging break and enjoyed some family time. I'm finding I take most of my pictures with my phone as it is light and easy to carry, do you find that so in the summer?
We've been picking tons of raspberries! My moms place has a huge raspberry patch and the kids especially love to pick them. I think they've picked a couple ice cream buckets full.
